Wow my last entry was in August… I’ve abandoned my readers… the shame…
It’s corny but I do really love and believe in New Years Resolutions. My resolutions this year are to stop inhaling smoke from paper tubes and chargeable electronic devices, and to start posting Pizza Pages again. Wish me luck my sexy readers.
Yvonne and I were in beautiful China for all of last month. We also stopped by perverted Japan for a week.
It was beautiful. I’m having a hard time getting back into the swing of things here in NYC.
The Swing of Things
Before I left for China, I finished up my second mural! It was an indoor hallway mural, located in the back of a matcha dessert cafe called Himawari. My last viral mural video attracted the owner’s attention, they commissioned me, and I quickly obliged because I wanted to impress my sisters and my matcha loving friends (I don’t care for matcha much myself).
It ended up taking a very long time and was physically and mentally taxing. Despite the struggle, I finished it just before their soft opening date, thanks to the help of my friends.
Upon finishing, there were a lot of mixed feelings that I had about my venture as a muralist. I’ll save this topic for another Pizza Pages in the future, after I’ve processed my thoughts more clearly.
The Swing of Things Pt. 2: COMICS
While in China, I made a lot of progress on a new comic strip I’ve been working on. It’s autobiographical! I was struggling to come up with a fictional premise, so I figured why not model the story on my real life interactions in NYC. Here’s a bit of the first panels I’ve made:
There’s still a bit more work I need to do to make this a final draft. This chapter took several months to ink in because it’s hard to find motivation and time, but I’m happy with how it turned out. This really did happen to me and Yvonne a few years ago. I’m excited to adapt more of our experiences and to sprinkle some fictional elements in there too.
Not sure what to call this strip! My vision for this is something similar to Garfield, Calvin and Hobbes, The Peanuts, that sort of thing. LMK if you have any ideas for a title! Maybe “John and Yvonne” would suffice… IDK! WDYT!! LMK!!
